What are Smart Glasses?

Smart Glasses are intelligent and innovative devices. They look like a kind of micro-computer in the form of glasses. Technology offers us optimal Augmented Reality viewers that are comfortable to wear and have high performance. 3D Smart Glasses enable unique experiences by superimposing certain information or images on the user’s field of vision. In practice, the user looks straight ahead, through the glasses, and what he sees is a scenario enriched with digital content.

There are different types of visors for creating Augmented Reality. There are the more basic models called OHMDs, or Optical Heads-up Mounted Displays, which simply have an optical display that is placed on the head and in front of the user’s eyes. More innovative and technologically advanced visors are also available: wireless Augmented Reality glasses with a built-in transparent heads-up display (HUD – Heads Up Display) or with an Augmented Reality (AR) overlay.

Some latest generation Smart Glasses are combined with a remote control or a touchpad, while others can be activated and managed through voice commands. Some models exploit the potential of a mobile operating system and offer the functions of a portable media player (for playing audio and video files), GPS localisation, activity tracking and more.

Each Augmented Reality viewer is able to collect information thanks to the implementation of intelligent internal and external sensors. It can also interact and retrieve data by interfacing with other devices. Augmented Reality solutions can support wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Augmented Reality glasses for your company

Why can Smart Glasses be useful for companies? Because they can be integrated into production processes, allowing many activities to be optimised and simplified.

A salesperson from anywhere in the world can wear a visor and see a new version of his surroundings with the great advantage of having his hands free. His or her activity can be shared with a visual expert who can remotely assist in creating windows and enriching the field of vision with information and digital content.

Through our Innovative Inoba solution, the platform is able to allow the Sales Assistant to virtually welcome the customer in the physical store by providing a unique immersive experience aimed at the sales ceremony.
